Static Structural Analysis of a Composite Cockpit
< back

Introduction

The study focuses on evaluating the mechanical performance of a cockpit constructed fromcomposite materials. The primary objective is to determine if the cockpit fails when subjected to afrontal load. This is achieved by analyzing the stresses produced within the cockpit under thespecified load conditions.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

We have a model of a cockpit with has material defined as a composite of two materials in fivedifferent layers. The cockpit is loaded with a force of 100 N from the front and it is constrained in all6 axis on the back side. We need to find out if the cockpit fails under the specified loadingconditions.

PROCEDURE

First we create the 3D model of the cockpit and import it into HyperMesh. Here we define thematerial of the composite and its pile layup. Afterwards a mesh is created and the forces and theconstraints are applied to the model. A static structural FEA analysis is performed on the modeland the results are publish in post.

RESULTS

The stresses produced in the cockpit structure are well below the failure condition of the materialand hence the model does not fail under the given loading conditions.
